International Baccalaureate (IB) Program

The IB programme allows students to explore their personal and academic interests via the International Baccalaureate model. Depending on their post-secondary aspirations and learning goals, students have the option of completing individual IB courses or completing the full IB Diploma. Both program options are valuable and should be chosen based on individual student needs.

Students are introduced to the IB experience in Grade 9 through the preparatory IB Studies Programme. This program is designed to familiarize students with all aspects of IB programme, and at the same time to provide an invigorating classroom atmosphere with others who have a similar focus. Students move throughout the school in congregated groups in both their Grade 9 (English, French, Math, Science and Geography) and their Grade 10 (English, French, Math, Science and History) classes.

These preparatory courses, designed to prepare and to further evaluate students for entry into the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in the senior grades, cover the Ontario Curriculum and provide enrichment in content and skills development. The pace of learning is accelerated, and the curriculum is enriched with an international perspective. In Grade 11, students may continue into the IB Diploma Programme if they have maintained an overall average of 75 percent in their preparatory IB Studies credits and upon the recommendation of their teachers.

The application period for current grade 8 WRDSB students opens in November 2018. Please submit the following:
