As you may be aware, we have experienced very high student enrollment numbers in all our grade 8 classrooms. All of our classrooms currently have a minimum of 30 students and some have more. After extensive and on-going consultation with the Waterloo Region District School Board staff and our School Superintendent, it has been determined that in the best interest of student learning, achievement and well-being we will reorganize our grade 8 classes. This reorganization will result in a much needed decrease in our grade 8 class sizes. Students and families affected by this transition have been notified today in a meeting with administration along with communication with families.
Additional changes needed to be made to the overall timetabling of the school as a result of the addition of class 86. Some grade 7 classes have been affected by minor changes in the timetable and/or teaching staff. These changes will be communicated to your child by their homeroom teacher on Friday, September 26, and a detailed letter will be sent home to families.
All class, timetable and staff changes will all take affect on Monday, September 29.
On behalf of the staff of Margaret Avenue Senior Public, I’d like to thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work through this change as we truly believe it will be in the best interests of all our students.
Mrs. Evelyn Giannopoulos, Principal
