Dear Families,

As you may already be aware from communication yesterday from the Waterloo Region District School Board, we have received an important update about how elementary students will find out who their teacher will be for this school year.

Class Assignments for Elementary Students

At this time, we are continuing to finalize class lists, and we are unable to share classroom or teacher assignments via School-Day. This is how you may have accessed this information in previous school years.

How do I find out who my child’s teacher will be?

On the first day of school, bus students will be informed of their homeroom teachers and class placements by a staff member who will board the bus and invite each student to join their teacher. Their teacher will be waiting to welcome their students on the upper hill on Louisa Street.

Students who will be walking to school will be greeted by staff members who will provide them with their homeroom class placement information as they arrive at the school (along Louisa Street). Students will then be directed to their homeroom teacher who will be waiting on the upper Louisa Street hill to welcome students. Teachers will wait with students outside until all students have arrived before entering the school.

In case of inclement weather, we will invite students into our gym and homeroom teachers will have their class lists. Teachers will gather their students in the gym to bring them to their classrooms.

Please refrain from calling the school to receive the class placement information as we are unable to provide any details at this time.

We apologize for the inconvenience this will cause. We know that some students will experience feelings of anxiety and worry as the start of the school year approaches. All of our staff will have a safe and caring plan in place to welcome students on the first day of school.
