While spring is officially here, we can agree that many of us are eagerly awaiting the sound of birds chirping and being able to say goodbye to the cold and lingering snow! Yet through it all, the staff of Margaret Avenue Senior School continues to work hard on your child’s behalf each day.  We continue to be regularly immersed in grade level, and subject specific planning, as we endeavor to work together in collaboration to support and enhance student learning and achievement. These professional learning opportunities are precious for our teachers to reflect on student learning and plan for continued growth and success for the remainder of this school year.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the very many of you who took the time to complete our Parent Information Survey over the past few months. Our School Council has taken the time to collate all the responses and have found responses invaluable. The survey gave us insight on areas that are strengths for us as a school while also highlighting further areas for growth and development. Our next School Council meeting is set for Monday, April 14 at 6:00 pm. As always, everyone is welcome to attend!

In looking ahead, April, May and June promise to bring many more experiential and sequential learning experiences to our students! We are so very excited about the new technology that we have been able to purchase and implement this year via our fundraising efforts and tuck shop gains! We have purchased two class sets of iPads and now have a total of 64 iPads in our school in addition to a robust computer lab and additional work stations in our library commons. As a staff, we look forward to using these instructional tools to further enhance and support the learning and achievement of our students!

Grade 7 and 9 Transition Meetings, Camp Wabanaki, Track and Field, Wonderland, Band Performances, Art Exhibits and trips to the Museum and Grade 8 Graduation all seem to be around the corner!  But not to worry, we have a team mobilized to capture all the many and wonderful events in our Annual Yearbook that will be available for order during the month of June! Please continue to stay connected to us on this website by subscribing by email to have all our posts pushed to your inbox and follow us on twitter: @mrgwrdsb to be kept informed and in the loop!

Hold on to your hats, the rest of this school year is going to fly by!
